Leg Vein Treatment
Leg vein treatment that is considered highly effective for treating small dilated superficial veins. It involves the injection of a solution directly into these “spider veins.” The solution causes the vein walls to swell, stick together and seal shut, stopping the flow of blood. As a result, the veins fade within a few weeks, Multiple treatments may be needed. Treatments will be spaced about 6-8 weeks apart.
During the procedure, you’ll lie on the treatment table with your legs slightly elevated. Your skin will be cleansed, then the solution is injected directly into the targeted veins using a very fine needle. The solution causes the vein walls to swell, stick together and seal shut, stopping the flow of blood. As a result, the vein fades within a few weeks.
You may experience some minor stinging or cramping when the needle is inserted into the vein. After the injections, you will wear compression stockings for 7-10 days. Compression pads may be taped onto the injection sites to keep larger veins compressed.
The number of injections required will depend upon the surface area to be covered.
There is no down-time following your Leg Vein treatment. Immediately after the procedure, you will need to go for a walk to flush the solution out of your system and to prevent clots. You will wear the compression stockings while you’re up and about for about 7-10 days and you’ll avoid strenuous exercise for about a week. It is also important to avoid sun exposure to the treated area until it is fully healed.
