Dermaplaning at Rivière Med Spa Portland Oregon is a simple but very effective chemical-free treatment that uses a surgical-grade blade and scrapes of dead skin from the surface to reveal clean, beautiful skin. During this treatment facial surface hair (also referred to as peach fuzz) is removed.

Dermaplaning is an exfoliating treatment that removes built-up dead skin and vellus hair (peach fuzz) using a sterile blade.
With Dermaplaning the skin is immediately refreshed, smooth, and glowing. Dermaplane is fantastic on its own, but it can be paired with other treatments such as IPL, HydraFacial, and microneedling to enhance results.
Dermaplaning is suitable for nearly everyone! Those who should not have dermaplaning performed are those with an active acne break-out (one or two pimples are okay!), those who have very irritated, dry, and dehydrated skin, and those with active infection on the face, such as herpetic lesions or staph.
No! Dermaplaning should NEVER hurt, it should feel mildly abrasive. Minor knicks and scratches can occur, however, they are very rare.

The cost of Dermaplaning can vary, but you can expect to pay from $75-$150 per treatment.
Of course, you can, but it will not be the same as dermaplaning. First and foremost, a dermaplane blade removes more than just hair, it removes dead skin, as well. Also, a dermaplane blade is much sharper than a home razor, thus reducing irritation with repeated passes. Dermaplane blades are sterile, at home blades are not and often reused which increases the risk of infection should a cut occur. Dermaplane blades are never reused and are utilized by a highly trained professional who can navigate all of the angles of the face.
Removing hair by cutting it off at the same level of the skin does not change the follicle of the hair, therefore it will not reduce the amount of hair that grows or increase it. In order for hair to grow differently than normal, it has to be stimulated by hormones, laser, or other methods.

Great experience! The spa looked very clean and sanitary. They offered me a sparkling water when I arrived and a clean mask to wear on my freshly injected face as I left. This was my first time getting injections and Rachael was really great about listening to my goals and letting me know what I need to achieve them. My initial laser hair removal treatment used a machine with a cryo blast for cooling. I had a reaction to the cryo and talked to Riviére about it afterward. They could not have been more kind and sincere. I expressed my hesitancy to come back for follow-up treatments but they were very reassuring based on new equipment that did not use cryo. Not only that but they said this new machine was pain-free. They offered a test area to prove their words so I returned. I am so glad that I did. The new machine truly is painless hair removal. Unbelievable ! It has me referring everyone I know as well as considering other areas for hair removal. Not only is the machine pain-free but the staff is professional and understanding. They have experience with the tools and services they offer so they can speak openly and honestly from a client’s perspective. And they treat you like a VIP which is always nice.
