The active ingredient in Kybella® is a synthetic formulation of deoxycholic acid, a substance naturally created within the body that functions to break down dietary fat. By injecting this medication into the target area by our highly skilled providers, it triggers the breakdown of the fatty deposits in the submental area. The body then goes through a natural process to shed the destroyed fat cells.

The skin will be cleansed, then marked with a white pencil. The area will be numbed then a skin marking grid will be applied. The Kybella® will be injected methodically according to the grid so that it is evenly distributed. An ice pack will be applied post-treatment and a chin strap can be put on to keep swelling to a minimum.

You may experience some swelling, bruising, itching, or nodules. Ice packs will greatly reduce these concerns. The swelling will gradually resolve over the course of 1-2 weeks. You will need several treatments with Kybella®. Multiple injection sessions at 4-6 week intervals will produce the most dramatic improvement in the reduction of a double chin. While certain candidates may see dramatic results in just two treatments, Some may require up to five sessions to produce the reduction in chin fat that they want to achieve.

The fat cells that are dissolved during a Kybella® treatment are gone for good. They never come back. It is possible for the remaining fat cells to expand to hold more fat. That’s why it’s important to complete your series of treatments to the point of a lean profile.
